Legal Literacy Volunteers
Legal Literacy Volunteers help people fill out forms, find the right information at the right time and generally provide a confidential, safe local service when they need it. Trained individual local (non-legal) volunteers work with local clients in their own communities to address issues BEFORE they require legal advice or intervention. The LCLC as a not-for-profit organisation provides free legal advice to the community in a variety of areas and our Legal Literacy Volunteers are supported by, and have access to, our solicitors should the need arise. Legal Literacy Volunteers are our ambassadors in their community and aim to foster community awareness of the law, making access to legal assistance more equitable and accessible to the community.

Visiting Lawyer from the Launceston Community Legal Centre
A Lawyer from Launceston Community Legal Centres visits Deloraine House to provide free legal advice to clients, which can include but is not limited to such matters as employment or unfair dismissal issues, debt, contract, consumer rights, boundary fences and restraint orders, family law issues, welfare rights issues and disability discrimination issues.
Community legal centres provide free legal advice, information and representation to around 5000 Tasmanians each year.
Their focus is on providing legal services to the socially and financially disadvantaged who in many cases are unable to access other legal services.
Commissioner for Declarations
Commissioners for Declarations (CDs) serve the public by signing documents that need a qualified witness.
A CD can:
witness signatures to documents
certify a true copy of an original document (subject to any specific instructions)
witness a statutory declaration
